I open upon a blank world
So
far above, a sky brushed charcoal is
dotted with tiny worlds my eyes cannot yet see.
Once-iridescent constellations have since
dissolved into lonely creatures—
much
like the artist stripped of his passions.
And scattered are they among every corner
of existence to face man’s truest test—perpetual
loneliness.
Imagine. My dreams dance in
technicolor, a celestial cerulean sea
rippled by a winged blur of precious
lives
swimming through its depths,
high above my head.
A tiny golden finch perches
here,
upon my shoulder,
and I can feel the closeness
of his promise. He trills his soft
melodies in my ear.
But before I can touch him,
he
vanishes.
